EU 2026 regulations
Check how the removal of the €150 threshold will affect your shipping and return costs. Prepare your business for the upcoming customs changes.
Total cost increase
If you sell from UK to EU, have an average of 2 HS codes per parcel, products are below €150 and you are registered for IOSS, your cost increase from July 1, 2026, will be 6.00 EUR per parcel (shipment and return). With 1000 shipments and 200 returns, you will pay a total of 7200.00 EUR more per month.
Handling fees
Until now, many EU countries did not apply additional national surcharges. The European Union is expected to introduce an EU-wide handling surcharge by Q3 2026.
Import duties
Low-value shipments (i.e., orders below €150, so-called "LVC") are exempt from duty until June 30, 2026.
From July 1, 2026, for LVC from IOSS-registered sellers, a flat duty of €3 per HS code will apply.
Cost impact: 2 HS codes * €3 = €6.00 extra per order.
Handling fees
Handling surcharges apply only to e-commerce orders below €150.
Note: Some countries (e.g., Romania) apply specific local fees (e.g., 25 RON per parcel) regardless of the place of import into the EU.
Import duties
Orders above €150 are subject to standard EU import duties.
In 2026, no changes are expected in the customs treatment of these orders.
These costs are already included in your current business model.
